According to a DigiTimes article reporting on a story from Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News (EDN), in the wake of intensive price wars in the lead-up to the 2008 holidays in the US and European markets off-brand manufacturers will be offering Blu-ray players to consumers at a $150 price point in 2009.
According to Economic Daily News (EDN) as quoted from Taiwan-based Topology Research Institute, 5 Million Blu-ray players were sold worldwide in 2008 with 11 million players forecast to be sold in 2009.
Also reported is that Taiwain-based manufacturer Lite-On IT plans to enter the Blu-ray player market with a player priced at around US$150.
