title

Fans of jazz, straight through, Afro-Cuban or alternative will find much to like in this release from AIX. Not a pun based on an HBO series, the Bandas are really musical brothers, and Ramon, a talented percussionist, has assembled some very sympathetic compadres for a mixed program of traditional and contemporary jazz. This is a talented group of players who work well together and give viewers a terrific show. Getting to sit in on a great music set is a treat that many will never get without the availability of videos. This BD gets buys you the ticket at a fraction of the real price. One can see from the playlist that the program is varied with something for all listeners.

Surprisingly enough, there is more than the expected amount of motion artifact on display. Not distracting but up to the usual excellent AIX standards.

voice

There are multiple options that can be selected. Look at the title specifications for these choices. As noted in the title specifications, AIX presents a choice of four soundtracks: Dolby 5.1 TrueHD (“stage” and “audience” mixes) as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM 2.0. Three audio-only versions can be downloaded to your computer. There is superb capture of the individual instruments with proper balance and perspective.

There is a nice interview with Ramon Banda and vocalist Destani Wolf as well as bios of the musicians.

band

The AIX BD catalog already has given us much great music, including some super jazz discs. The Banda Brothers Primavera is a worthy addition to this catalog, letting us watch and hear a group of artists that not only deserve but demand our attention. An hour passes by at light speed and our ears are better off for the efforts of these superb ensemble players and soloists.
