According to Arrow Video: Deep Blue Sea has been restored by Arrow Films…The film is presented in 4K resolution in HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The original 35mm camera negative was scanned in 4K/16-bit resolution at Warner Bros./Motion Picture Imaging. The film was restored in 4K resolution and colour graded at Duplitech. This new restored master of Deep Blue Sea has been approved by

Director Renny Harlin.

On 4K Ultra HD disc, the film is presented in a 2.35:1 HEVC 2160p (4K UHD) Dolby Vision encodement. This new transfer from Arrow Video features a consistent layer of grain, with some coarser grain noticeable in scenes with in-camera effects and very low light. Details are clear, especially in close-ups where droplets of water, wrinkles, and freckles can be seen. The Dolby Vision grading provides bright highlights, making flashlights glow and reflections off water glisten brightly.

The Audio

Deep Blue Sea comes with the 5.1 mix sourced from Warner Bros. in DTS-HD Master Audio and a new Atmos mix produced by Arrow Films completed at Deluxe Audio, London. The Atmos mix was my reference for this review, and it is a rollicking mix. Arrow has done a bang-up job with what was already a superb surround mix, but now it is even more encompassing, with excellent height awareness and deep, deep, low end so much so that it knocked some items off the shelving on my walls. All of this while maintaining clarity in the dialogue.

Arrow Video packs this release with extras, including three audio commentaries and numerous tchotchkes, making this up to snuff for an Arrow release.
