The Performance
[Rating:5/5]
Filmed at the London Hippodrome on October 25, 2007, this powerful concert features veteran Northern Irish blues guitarist Gary Moore and his band tearing through a powerful set of 11 Jimi Hendrix songs. Making the evening even more special, Gary and his band members are joined at the end of the night for three numbers by original Jimi Hendrix Experience members Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox. Their renditions of “Red House,” “Stone Free,” and “Hey Joe,” did Jimi proud and must have had the guitar god smiling in his grave. Gary Moore’s guitar playing was flawless from beginning to end, reminiscent of Hendrix while inflecting his own personal style and the backing musicians, Dave Bronze (bass), Darrin Mooney (Drums) along with Cox and Mitchell set forward a tight, rip-roaring night of fan pleasing blues.

The 1080i/60 AVC encodement is about as good as one could expect for a dimly lit live concert performance such as this. Detail does tend to get a bit soft and become a little overwhelmed at times by video noise, but the power of the music is more than enough to compensate for what is ultimately a more than good enough image.

The lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz/16-bit) track provided on Blues for Jimi is a solid one with good dynamics and a lively sound. The surround channels are populated with a hint of performance space ambience and subtle crowd noise while the instrumental separation and vocals are clean and distinct. The midrange in punchy and highs good, if just a little bit towards the tizzy side. A PCM 2.0 Stereo (48kHz/16-bit) soundtrack is also provided that isn’t quite as engaging as the 5.1 mix, but still rather strong nonetheless.

A lot of songs i wish to play, are in this tunning called “drop C tunning” and i have no idea what that is. i want to play these songs in my guitar lessons. so i was wondering if you could tell me what it is :) thanx!
Actually, I am a guitarist, so I’m familiar with this, though I never used it much. Drop C is when you tune your guitar as such (C G C F A D). Here’s a link I found that probably explains it better than I can, because Im not a good tutor. :P http://www.howtotuneaguitar.org/tuning/drop-c/
Of course, you can Google something and find something else as well.
