The Series
[Rating:4.5/5]
These four “volumes” of Hellsing Ultimate begins where the last four left off, with Alucard still stranded on the Eagle While Millennium begins attacking London with their ghoul and vampire SS soldiers. Meanwhile, Integra is trapped by the Millennium ghouls and trying to make her way back to Hellsing Mansion where the Wild Geese led by Captain Bernadotte are under heavy siege by Zorin Blitz and her undead SS forces. The Roman Catholic forces also begin to build up for an attack against the protestant “heretics” in England for what will ultimately be a grand and climactic showdown orchestrated by the malevolent Nazi, The Major.
These four episodes of this incredible adaptation of the Hellsing manga is absolutely soaked in blood and filled with intense action. The switchover from Satellite to Madhouse doesn’t seem to have affected the quality of the animation one bit either, as it is still visually stunning and eye-popping straight through.
Video Quality
[Rating:4.5/5]
The video quality remains consistent to the volumes 1-4 release of Hellsing Ultimate on Blu-ray where there are a few moments where some banding appears and a little noticeable aliasing in the CGI work can be spotted, but otherwise it is a really strong, detailed, and textured transfer of the animation from Funimation in this AVC/MPEG-4 1080p encodement.
Audio Quality
[Rating:5/5]
The audio is still a great reference track in both the original 16-bit Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz/16-bit) and 24-bit English dub DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz/24-bit) versions. There are again numerous sounds that engulf you in the world of Hellsing, be it the bullets flying, snarl of ghouls, or blades of helicopters flying overhead. Sounds come from all around with great depth in the low end, lots of dynamic range and clear dialogue.
