Hitman_1

Interview With A Hitman tells the story of Viktor (Luke Goss), an assassin for hire in the slums of Romania. Known for this ‘never lose, never quit’ mentality, Viktor is the best at what he does, not only because he has a high skill level, but also due to the simple fact that he values his life. After a rather ruthless betrayal by his bosses, he escapes to London, joining a new ‘family’ – soon realizing what the underground power struggle is exactly like. Seemingly happy with his new life, Viktor is given the opportunity to place this life of killing, of crime, behind him after meeting what just may be his life partner.

Films like this may initially slide under my radar, but I always look to my reviewing gig here on TheaterByte, as a great part of my daily life. Why you ask? Outside of improving my writing, this site has allowed me to watch numerous films that I know I never would watch had I not received them in. While some of them are absolutely dreadful, there comes in a title here and there, that just wows me. Such is Interview With A Hitman. With a rather fast pace, an interesting story, a solid performance by Luke Goss, Hitman works on nearly every level.

Hitman_2

Interview With A Hitman arrives with a 1:85:1 framed, AVC MPEG-4 encoded effort from Well Go USA, one of which is great. Even though the film’s palette is mostly muted with drab grays and bland yellows, the film still holds a rather surprising amount of detail. Facial close-ups result in accurate contrast levels (even if they are somewhat toned down.) Grain is absent, as the film was shot digitally. Texture and detail is strong as well. All in all, this is a fine effort from Well Go USA.

Audio Quality

[Rating:5/5]

Hitman_3

The film’s included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, one that (like the video) is excellent. Dialogue is well reproduced throughout via the center channel. Atmosphere is nothing short of impressive. The film may have a few low key moments, mostly dialogue driven, where the mix leans toward the front channels; however, once the action starts occurring, the surrounds pick up. Little discrete effects, like that of a background gun blast or the wind, help to create the kind of atmosphere that puts us right in the middle of the mix. LFE is deep and immersive as well, rounding out a really impressive effort by Well Go USA.

Well Go USA’s Interview With A Hitman comes recommended to nearly all, bolstered by a strong technical presentation, as well as an impressive performance by Luke Goss.
