To coincide with the company’s 60th Anniversary, high-end audio manufacturer, McIntosh Laboratory, one of the brands in the D & M Holdings stable, has introduced their first-ever integrated tabletop audio system, the 60th Anniversary MXA60 Executive System.
The system is designed by the same team of renowned McIntosh engineers who created the company’s $250000 Reference System, and it features a 75-watt-per-channel amplifier, CD/SACD/MP3 player, vacuum tube preamplifier, as well as a built-in AM/FM/RBDS Tuner and high performance, two-way bass reflex loudspeaker system.
McIntosh President Charlie Randall noted: “Our concept in creating the 60th Anniversary MXA60 Executive System was to bring together 100% McIntosh performance in a single convenient and compact package, giving audio enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy renowned McIntosh performance in a system that’s ready to play right out of the box. The result is a unique McIntosh audio system with an amazingly big sound that defies its small size.”
The MXA60 features a solid all-metal casework, anodized aluminum accents and backlit glass faceplates with Peak Reading Wattmeters in a classic styling that has become very much associated with the McIntosh brand.
Additionally, the MXA60’s 75-watt transistor-based amplifier features Sentry Monitor fuse-less short-circuit protection and Power Guard anti-clipping circuitry that McIntosh says helps ensure distortion-free performance and reliability. The preamp utilizes a hybrid transistor/tube design with a dual triode tube design for the for optimum music reproduction. The system’s high performance two-way loudspeakers weigh less than eight pounds each and feature custom designed mid-woofers with a four-inch diameter.
The MXA60 is available now at a suggested retail price $7,500.
