The Film

[Rating:3/5]

Baltimore Ravens Road to XLVII, as the title might suggest, chronicles the Baltimore Ravens Road to Super Bowl XLVII. Specifically, this set includes the final 4 games of their season with the AFC Wildcard Playoffs v The Indianapolis Colts, the AFC Divisional Playoffs v The Denver Broncos, the AFC Championship Game v The New England Patriots, and the Super Bowl XLVII v The San Francisco 49ers.

Now, normally this might be an all around solid match up; however, it was made that much more interesting for one main reason. Harbaugh v. Harbaugh (doesn’t that sound like something out of the WWE?), that being John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, versus his brother Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Regardless of what side you wanted to win, heck even if your actual team wasn’t in the Super Bowl, one thing rests assure. Fans of both the NFL, as well as the Baltimore Ravens, will surely find much to enjoy here, as their favorite Baltimore Ravens final 4 games are shown in their entirety.

Arriving with a 1:78:1 framed, AVC MPEG-4 encoded transfer, the transfer provided here won’t amaze fans; however, they will be pleased to see their Baltimore Ravens on Blu-ray.  Clarity is quite strong here, especially that of texture detail. Uniforms, grass and fans all looked solid. Colors do occasionally pop, whether the blues of the sky or the purples of the Ravens uniforms. Fans who watched these games via an HD broadcast will notice similar results here. Nothing great, yet a proficient transfer.

Audio Quality

[Rating:3/5]

Audio-wise, we’re given a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 lossless mix, one of which is decent at best. Dialogue is somewhat well reproduced, but there are a few moments where the overly aggressive crowd cheers can drown out some of the announcers’ words. Despite this, the track does do a serviceable job at what it needs to do.

All included features are presented in High Definition:

  • Trivia Track – This offers up a bit of pop up dialogue during the SuperBowl broadcast.

Clearly the intended audience for this release might be those residing in the Baltimore, Maryland area. While I find the initial Ravens release to be the overall better package (especially for the price,) this is a must own for Ravens’ fans, and a strong recommendation for NFL diehards.
