As the title might suggest, Super Bowl XLVII Champions: Baltimore Ravens chronicles the journey the Baltimore Ravens took during the 2012 NFL season, ultimately ending with a Super Bowl showdown against the San Francisco 49ers. Diving deeper into the physical match, I’ll easily admit that this years Super Bowl was one of the more interesting Super Bowls (and not just because of the arena losing power.)
Now, normally this might be an all around solid match up; however, it was made that much more interesting for one main reason. Harbaugh v. Harbaugh (doesn’t that sound like something out of the WWE?), that being John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, versus his brother Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Regardless of what side you wanted to win, heck even if your actual team wasn’t in the Super Bowl, one thing rests assure. Fans of both the NFL, as well as the Baltimore Ravens, will surely find much to enjoy here, as the 74 minute production is fast paced, yet always entertaining.

Like other sport releases, Super Bowl XLVII Champions: Baltimore Ravens arrives with a 1:78:1 framed, AVC MPEG-4 encoded transfer. The game’s color palette features that of bold purples of the Ravens uniforms. Blacks are equally as strong. Clarity impresses as well, especially that of the actual game footage. Some of the image, mostly the mixed in HD broadcast clips, can tend to be a bit on the soft side; however, this wasn’t an overall problem with the physical encodement. All in all, this is a more than capable transfer.

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix captures all the hard hitting action of the game. Game dialogue is well reproduced via the center channel. Atmosphere, again during the big game moments, pleases. We can easily make out all the arena effects, like that of the cheers and yells of the fans that all but place us right in the middle of the action. There’s a bit of solid low-end via the fireworks booming, as well as the crushing blows of the players colliding with one another. All in all, this mix hits the right notes.
