In AJ Duke’s own words, “Soldiers Heart” is a tribute to the heroic acts that will never be known, the sacrifices these families make, and the heartbreak that they feel daily. “I was initially inspired to write this album while I was sitting in my husband’s truck in the early hours of the morning, waiting for him to be done with his PT. I heard the cadence of a ruck march nearby…the melodies and the words came from there.” shared AJ. “After seeing the healing by sharing Soldier’s Heart with a broken, guarded, Vietnam Vet, I decided it was time to share this music, not for my sake, but for the sake of having more stories like that happen.”
AJ Duke is a proud military wife whose passion is to tell the story of the military and their families as well as bringing hope and change through her music. She began writing songs at the age of 7; at age 15, she taught herself to play the guitar, finally threading her stories and melodies into song. When AJ’s husband enlisted in the US Army, her songs became her outlet to cope with the many trials and joys of being a part of the military family. When she isn’t writing new music, you can find AJ Duke writing for various blogs, performing her music, leading worship, or sharing inspirational and motivational stories with military families around the world.
