The Film

[Rating:3/5]

This is one of those rare times when entering into a film, the title tells you pretty much all you need to know. Strippers Vs. Werewolves is a comedy horror exploitation film that pits beautiful scantily clad or naked strippers against werewolves. The battle gets underway when the werewolf chief Jack Ferris (Billy Murray) is killed in the strip club Vixens. Fearing for their lives, the strippers of Vixens try to hide the body, but the werewolves come looking for their chief and it ultimately culminates in a bloody clash between the sexy Vixens and the gruesome lycans. Strippers Vs. Werewolves is surprisingly tolerable for a B-grade film of this nature. The acting is a grade above the usual for films of its ilk, such as the awful Zombie Strippers or the recent Cherry Bomb, and it never takes itself seriously. It also has the advantage of featuring veteran Robert Englund and famous British glamour model Lucy Pinder.

Video Quality

[Rating:3.5/5]

There’s nothing spectacular abut the way Strippers Vs. Werewolves looks in this AVC/MPEG-4 1080p encodement. There’s often quite a bit of video noise and details can be a little on the soft side. Shadow details are average at best, but the brighter segments look good with natural flesh tones and a good bit of textural information.

Audio Quality

[Rating:3.5/5]

The lossless track provided in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (48kHz/16-bit) is quite disappointing. It’s a bit front-heavy with little activity in the surround channels outside of some mild atmospherics and the odd, out of place discrete sound effects. The overall sound is on the thin side as well, needing just a bit more low frequencies.

Supplemental Materials

[Rating:2/5]

There isn’t much here worth sitting through, not even the commentary or “behind the scenes.”

The supplements:

  • Producers’ Commentary – Jonathan Sothcott and Simon Phillips
  • Behind the Scenes (1.78:1; 1080p/24; 00:11:27)
  • Original Trailer (2.35:1; 1080p/24)

The Definitive Word

Overall:

[Rating:3/5]

Turn off your brain for a little while, sit back and enjoy the gratuitous nudity, gore, and offbeat comedy of Strippers Vs. Werewolves, a surprisingly tolerable B-grade comedy/horror flick that offers a passable amount of entertainment on Blu-ray from Well Go USA.
