This Week’s Definitive Blu-ray Releases

It’s a strong week for Blu-ray releases, which is just well enough for us as we inaugurate our Definitive Blu-ray Releases weekly roundup in which we alert you to the week’s hot new Blu-ray titles.

First up is Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, in this three-disc edition Blu-ray+DVD+digital copy of the followup smash to the Ben Stiller comedy A Night at the Museum, also starring Amy Adams and Robing Williams. Also coming in this week are Guy Ritchie’s Snatch starring Brad Pitt, the action-filled crime drama Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels from Universal Studios, and the depression-era drama featuring Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan in a Warner Blu-ray Book, The Green Mile. And from Warner’s New Line comes Second Hand Lions starring Michael Caine and Haley Joel Osment. Finally from Warner, is Gremlins, that fuzzy horror classic.

Last, but certainly not least, The Criterion Collection appears this week with two solid releases on Blu-ray, one being the Catherine Deneuve holiday drama, A Christmas Tale and the other what may be the greatest “rockumentary” of all time, The Rolling Stones in Gimme Shelter.
